An extraordinary collection of valuable built heritage broad enough to satisfy differing views about what signposts to the past matter most. The take-home for us here may be, that, while we cannot rival the age of some of these sites, we do have industrial and non-traditional buildings that act as important signposts to our past but do not currently attract heritage designation.
